I have been very fortunate to have studied jazz guitar in Boston at Berklee
College of Music and classical guitar at New England Conservatory.
Combining my love of both styles I have made a particular specialty of
performing selections from "The American Songbook" on solo classical
guitar. Composers of theses great jazz and popular 'standards' include
Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Ann Ronnell, Richard Rogers, Henry
Mancini and a host of others. Timeless and always fresh sounding, these
tunes are widely known and loved across generational lines. My original  
arrangements and improvisations are done in a classical style with
emphasis on maintaining a clear and uncluttered melodic line. I like to think
of this approach as “jazz and popular standards with a classical touch”.  I
perform on a classical guitar with a built in microphone so some
amplification can be used - enough to be heard in a crowded room, but
never so much as to be overpowering.


The traditional repertoire for classical guitar Includes music covering five
centuries. Rennaisance and Baroque lute music is often arranged and
performed on classical guitar. During the Classical and Romantic periods
the guitar had it's own group of composers including Fernando Sor, Mauro
Giuliani, Nicolo Paganini and Johann Kaspar Mertz. Although none of these
composers were on the same level as Mozart or Beethoven they did
produce some very beautiful and charming pieces for classical guitar. Due
in large part to the influence Andres Segovia there was a renewal of
interest in the classical guitar and it's music during the twentieth century
and composers from all over the world have written pieces for the
instrument.,
